Set up frontend asset tooling.

Scope

  • Tailwind configured to scan PHP templates for class usage
  • Dev watch mode and minified production build
  • Compiled output served by nginx and excluded from version control

Acceptance criteria

  • Editing a template class rebuilds CSS in watch mode
  • Production build emits minified, purged CSS
  • Build artefacts are gitignored

Task4 dependency decision before install: Tailwind CSS and @tailwindcss/cli 4.3.3 (current registry release), Node 24 LTS container. Official CLI and source-detection docs reviewed; explicit PHP template/public sources with source(none), minified build and watch. Exact direct versions plus npm lockfile/npm ci; no host Node required. Verification pending; no closure.

Acceptance reconciliation at c1ef2ee: locked Tailwind build/watch, explicit template scanning and ignored generated assets are implemented. Historical M1 task4 runtime checks verified watch rebuild after template edit, used/unused classes and nginx CSS delivery. No fresh asset build in this reconciliation. Closing based on recorded acceptance evidence.
