Context

Implement this MVP work package under M3 - Import & Indexing Engine, following the managed-storage decision in #1.

Acceptance criteria

  • Expose job state and Importing X of Y through cheap polling; processed includes success, failure and explicit skips.
  • Distinguish scanning, queued, running, awaiting duplicate decision, complete, partial failure and aborted states.
  • Progress never exceeds total; zero-file runs terminate; test state transitions and counters.

Acceptance reconciliation at c1ef2ee: keeping open. Repository counters exist, but no status/polling surface, full state distinctions or worker completion of empty jobs. completeEmpty exists but is not called by worker. This is a source/test review, not a newly executed crash or restore experiment. Fresh Windows suite: 291 tests, 1801 assertions, 22 skips; lint passes. PostgreSQL fixture success does not waive these feature criteria.
